Fairtrade is an alternative approach to conventional trade and is based on a partnership between producers and consumers. When farmers can sell on Fairtrade terms, it provides them with a better deal and improved terms of trade. This allows them the opportunity to improve their lives and plan for their future. Fairtrade offers consumers a powerful way to reduce poverty through their every day shopping. When a product carries the FAIRTRADE Mark it means the producers and traders have met Fairtrade Standards.

The Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) is an international non-profit, mission –driven, multi-stakeholder organization founded in 1994 that sets the standards for what is a responsibly managed forest, both environmentally and socially.
FSC Mission is to promote environmentally appropriate, socially beneficial, and economically viable management of the world’s forests.
FSC Vision is that the world’s forests meet the social, ecological, and economic rights and needs of the present generation without compromising those of future generations.

UTZ Certified
UTZ is a program and label for sustainable farming of coffee, cocoa, tea and hazelnuts. Out mission is to create a world where sustainable farming is the norm.

Hivos is an international organisation that seeks new solutions to persistent global issues. Fairtrade Original
Fair Trade Original is a brand aimed at the Dutch market. We buy raw ingredients or ready-made products from our fairtrade partners and sell these predominantly in supermarkets, in speciality shops such as the World Shop, wholesale, and on line.
Twin
Twin is a development through trade NGO working with 43 producer organisations representing over 300,000 coffee, cocoa and nut smallholders in 17 countries across Latin America, Africa and Asia. Our trading company Twin Trading markets and trades quality coffee and cocoa with development impact. Twin and Twin Trading work hand in hand to access value-added markets on behalf of our producer partners, balancing producer support with market demand.
IDH
IDH convenes companies, CSOs, governments and others in public-private partnerships. Together we drive the joint design, co-funding and prototyping of new economically viable approaches to realize green & inclusive growth at scale in commodity sectors and sourcing areas.
Kagera Cooperative Union (KCU)
Kagera Co-operative Union (KCU) is a Voluntary Association of 125 Primary Cooperative Societies representing over 60,000 small farmers of the mainly Robusta Coffee in Kagera Region in the north west of Tanzania (West of Lake Victoria). Each primary society is owned by about 500 small coffee producers. Kagera Co-operative Union Ltd therefore has about 60,000 members. For a primary society to be a member of KCU Ltd, it has to own shares in KCU.
